Finding the best cheap extra large dog beds

I am going to be brutally honest with you: if your idea of a cheap extra large dog bed is under $20 that’s exactly what you’ll find: a cheap dog bed.
As in, unless you have the daintiest Dane or the gentlest German Shepherd, it’s not going to last long.
However, there are times that we just need that cheap bed. Maybe you’re fostering a rescue pup, or your dog just had surgery and can’t jump on the bed.
Maybe you don’t need something that’s going to last until the end of time.
In that case, read on for where to find absolutely cheap extra large dog beds that probably won’t hold up against heavy use, but still work great in a pinch.
Then, keep reading, because I’ll also tell you how to find discount dog beds that aren’t quite as cheap, but still pretty budget-friendly overall.
Where to find really cheap extra large dog beds
1. Walmart
Walmart has a mix of pet beds, ranging from very cheap extra large dog beds up to some pricier (yet still budget-friendly) options. I once got my girl Maia a very large bed from there for under $30.
Unfortunately, she hated it because it was too fluffy. My cats slept on it, then when we got Freya after we lost Maia, Freya ate it, along with every other dog bed in the house, and all of our shoes.
2. Zulily
I’ve had a lot of mixed results with Zulily, but I know a lot of people who swear by them.
They sell a variety of items, one of them being discounted dog beds!
Although the deals tend to change on a daily and weekly basis, you can get an extra large memory foam dog bed for about $40 (originally $80).
Check the app or website often as deals change all the time.
You do need to sign up before you can even look at the beds, which kind of annoys me, but it might be worth it.
3. Ebay
Ebay is hit or miss with finding good deals. A lot of people assume that because something is on eBay, it’s the cheapest that it can get.
However, I’ve seen people selling goods for 3-4 times the amount that they are on sites like Amazon, just because they know that there are people who assume that eBay has the best deals.
What I’m saying is: do your research to make sure you’re getting the best deal. If you do your homework, you can find great bargains.
Also, pay with PayPal because they offer buyer protection on eBay purchases.
4. Craigslist
Craigslist is full of scams, so beware. However, you can also find some real gems because a lot of people still use it to get rid of things that they don’t need.
For example, someone might buy a dog bed and discover that their pooch hates it, but never get around to returning it (guilty!).
Please use common sense and follow basic safety procedures when dealing with Craigslist. Meet in a public place and pay in cash when you receive the merchandise.
5. Facebook groups
Local “buy and sell” Facebook groups are a great place to find cheap dog beds, for the same reason as you’ll find them on Craigslist.
Even better, many of these groups allow “In Search Of (ISO)” posts where you can ask if anyone has an extra large dog bed cheap.
Where to find really good discount dog beds
While all of those places will help you find extra large dog beds cheap (and some of them will even be pretty decent beds), if you want something that will really last I recommend these places.
1. Amazon
The world’s largest online retailer is pretty much my first stop to look for anything, including cheap extra large dog beds. In fact, I have the app open when I shop elsewhere just to compare prices.
One thing I love about Amazon: you can read reviews and find answers to questions right on the product’s page. That way, you know if that $30 XL bed is amazing or just too good to be true.
Keep an eye on Daily Deals, Goldbox Deals and other sales. You can find some astonishing discounts year-round!
2. Target
Target has a great pet selection. While they do carry a variety of extra large dog beds in store, you might have a better shot at greater deal and variety online at www.target.com.
Most of the larger dog beds start around $20 and go up from there. When shopping online, before checkout, search online for codes for discounts.
Just open up a new browser page for Google and type in ‘coupon codes for target’. It is hit or miss, so do not get discouraged, you might not find one.
3. Chewy
Chewy is my favorite place to buy pet supplies in general, mostly because they offer free 2-day shipping on orders $49+.
I live relatively close to their warehouse, so most of my orders arrive the next day. Once, I ordered at 9PM and it still showed up the next afternoon!
While Chewy’s prices are comparable to Amazon in many areas, they always seem to have some great discounts on pet beds.
Regardless of where you choose to shop, make sure you check for coupon codes before checking out. Just search the store name + coupons in Google or Bing. You can also use sites like RetailMeNot or browser extension like Honey.
You can always try your hand at shopping in store, it allows you to touch feel what you are purchasing. Shopping online is a quick and easy way to make a purchase and often has the best deals on extra large dog beds.
