Pitbull Puppy Training Tips:  Hiring A Pitbull Sitter

Everyone has to travel on occasion, and sadly we can’t always take our pets with us.  When that is the case, we need to focus on making sure we have everything handled by a quality pet sitter.  Pitbulls are a whole other consideration since they are often looked at as being only ferocious or mean animals.

Many pet owners know that pitbulls can and often are gentle and loving creatures and deserve proper care while you are away.

Are they familiar with the breed?  Don’t throw someone into a situation with a dog or breed they are unfamiliar with.  If they show any signs of trepidation or disdain for pitbulls, you know right away that they are not a fit for you.

Make sure they are familiar with the size of the dog, the general temperament your dog will exhibit as well as the type of attention it needs.  Pit bulls need a lot of activity to work off excess energy.  Your pet sitter needs to understand that need and be willing to take them for walks, to parks for runs and to spend time playing one on one with them as well.

They also need to be able to follow through with any pitbull puppy training tips you’re working on.

Are they okay with larger dogs? If the pet sitter in question has a fear of larger dogs, it just isn’t going to be a good fit.  Being comfortable handling a larger dog is necessary.

Pit bulls aren’t huge, but they are very strong.  Even in a simple play game of tug of war they can get very aggressive.  This doesn’t mean they are being violent, but showing their natural aggressive side in play.

Make sure your pet sitter can handle a bigger dog and their needs.

Choosing a pet sitter is easy when you know what your needs are.  Making sure the person you choose is available at the times you need, as well as being comfortable taking care of a pitbull is necessary.

Spend some time with them around your dog to see how they interact.  You want someone who will love them and care for them just like you would.

When looking for what to consider when hiring a pitbull sitter, you need not look any farther than to find someone who loves your pet and wants their safety and happiness while you are away.
