So you’ve got a Pitbull puppy.

Congratulations, you now own one of the absolute best dog breeds out there.

The Pitbull is my definition of  a family dog.

It’s friendly, loving. loyal, and smart.

It’s also overflowing with energy.

This is especially true of a Pitbull puppy, so you have to be prepared to work off that energy.

That’s why I’ve put together some great pitbull puppy games and outdoor activities for you and your pup.

Pitbull Puppy Games for Play Time

A Pitbull puppy is the canine version of the energizer bunny. This dogs are extremely excited, energy filled dynamos, so you need to exercise them. It’s good for them and for your house. A bored puppy or a puppy filled to the brim with energy is a destructive puppy. That’s why you need to help your Pitbull puppy get out all of that pent up energy.

1. Fetch

Ah, fetch. The classic dog game. While Labs are generally thought of as the epitome of fetch players, Pitbulls are actually quite good at it, and they love it. Playing fetch with your Pitbull puppy will help it run off its energy, give it something that is both physically and mentally stimulating, and help you bond. You can even use the time to practice your commands. Consider teaching your Pitbull puppy to drop the ball for you to throw it or having it sit before you throw the ball.

2. Tug of War

This is another oldie but goodie. Tug of war is a great game for a Pitbull puppy because it allows your pup to really exert some energy. Pulling and tugging on the rope and vigorously shaking its head back and forth will have your Pitbull puppy tuckered out in no time. Tug of war is also just plain fun.

Just remember to be careful of your hands! When your Pitbull puppy gets excited, it might accidentally grab your hand instead of the rope. Although your puppy is still young, it’s jaws are still considerably more powerful than some other puppies, and they have those tiny, needle-like puppy teeth. So watch out!

3. Tag

Well, it’s not really tag. It’s more of a general romp in the yard. All puppies love to run. So put your Pitbull puppy through its paces with a vigorous game of “tag”. It’s very easy to kick off a game of tag. All you really need to do is start running, your puppy will follow suit.

Pitbull puppy “tag” is great because it allows your pup to get out there and really romp. All that romping expends a ton of energy, and it’s a very natural thing to do with your pup. For an extra level of fun that will blow your pup’s mind, bring out the kids and their friends. Your puppy will loose it with so many different people to run around with.

4. Agility Training

Believe it or not, the Pitbull is quite good at agility training. That makes it a great activity to really get your Pitbull puppy engaged on both a physical and mental level. With agility training, you can give your puppy plenty of mental and physical stimulation as well as reinforce your role as alfa and teach your pup to follow commands.

A Playful Puppy is a Well Behaved Puppy

If you have a Pitbull puppy, you need to make outdoor play a part of every single day. Just do it. You’ll thank me. =D Pitbull puppies are so full of energy, if you don’t give them adequate outdoor time, they will most certainly destroy your house. And that’s not their fault. All puppies can become destructive if they aren’t properly tired out. Pitbull puppies just happen to be more powerful than other breeds.

The Pitbull puppy games I laid out above will keep you and your Pitbull puppy happy and healthy. So get out there and romp. It’s good for both of you!
