With two elderly dogs and one pushing 9, I am always reading up on the best dog foods for their ever-changing needs. Each dog has completely different requirements as far as foods go. One size doesn’t fit all in our household. For example, my Shepherd is 14 and, it pains me to say, at the very end of her life. Her needs are completely different than Cooper’s, who has skin allergies and a weight problem.
Then there’s Maia, my Lab/Collie mix. Maia is also 14, but she doesn’t have the same physical ailments as my Shepherd. Yes, she’s achy and takes her time getting up and down, but she still runs around the yard barking at squirrels when she wants to. The operative phrases being “when she wants to.”
Maia is a lumpy, bumpy dog in her old age. We love her, warts and all (literally), but I was concerned about those warts and bumps. I did some research and talked to the vet. They’re actually common in older dogs and typically not dangerous. However, I did read that they’re a sign of a weakened immune system. That part worried me a bit.
Support Your Dog’s Immune System with Pinnacle® Grain-Free Dog Foods
When I first read about the newly launched Pinnacle® Grain- Free Dog Foods, the thing that drew my eye right away was the fact that their foods have antioxidants to support a healthy immune system. I’ve done a lot of dog food research, so I already knew Pinnacle was a great brand.
I don’t just need a great brand, though, I need something that can help support Maia’s immune system AND her aging muscles, PLUS her overall digestive system. I ask for a lot out of my dog’s food. I have to. I want to get as much more time with them as possible, and the right dog food plays a major role in that.
Features of Pinnacle® Grain Free Dog Food:
- High-quality ingredients, including Quinoa, Sweet Potato,Pumpkin, Seakelp, Cottage Cheese
- High-quality proteins in natural, healthy recipes
- Antioxidants to support healthy immune system
- Fiber to encourage healthy digestion
- Promotes general joint health and overall muscle tone
All of that, plus it’s made right in the US at their California plant. It’s also good for dogs with sensitive stomachs, making it a great hypoallergenic dog food choice.
Maia will be trying out Pinnacle dog food, then I’ll share our thoughts on it. Or my thoughts and her reactions, since she can’t type. Then again, maybe she can. She IS half Collie, after all.

Hi there! I'm Nicole, the editor-in-chief and one of the writers here at DogVills. I've been a dog owner for most of my adult life and a dog lover for much longer than that. I grew up with a wonderful German Shepherd named Jake, who I loved SO much that I named my son after him.
