Hypoallergenic dog food has seen a dramatic increase in popularity, and I think that’s a good thing. Whether or not your dog has food allergies or sensitivities, hypoallergenic dog food is a great choice, because it keeps your dog’s diet free of ingredients that its body isn’t meant to process.

Hypoallergenic Dog Food at PetSmart
PetSmart is a name that everyone recognizes. It’s one of the largest online and brick-and-mortar pet food and supply stores out there, so it has quite a variety of foods. You can find several varieties of hypoallergenic dog food in their stores and online, and many of them receive consistently high reviews from consumers.
Let me say, I am not promoting PetSmart. I received no compensation from them whatsoever. I am simply giving information on where to get high quality hypoallergenic dog food. Because everyone and their brother knows PetSmart, I decided to give all of you a sampling of the highest-rated brands of hypoallergenic dog food available from them.
Nulo
Nulo is a brand I haven’t had any experience with, however when I pulled it up online, it received high marks in both its palatability, and its outcome. This grain-free food uses no meat-by-products, GMOs, artificial flavors, or colors and preservatives. In addition, it used low-glycemic index carbohydrates sources to provide high energy levels without increasing weight gain.
Currently, only Nulo Grain-Free Chicken & Sweet Potato Puppy formula is available from PetSmart.
Blue Buffalo
Chances are you’ve heard of this brand. It’s all over the television, and it’s a highly recommended brand by vets. Blue Buffalo has quite a large selection of hypoallergenic dog food varieties, and many of them can be found at PetSmart, either in-store or online. This also receives high marks from consumers, and many clients at the vet loved it for their dogs.
Hypoallergenic Dog Food – What to do When Nothing Seems to Work
Bil-Jac
Bil-Jac is another dog food that I have no experience with. I put it on the list, because of its high ratings. However, because none of the formulations offered by PetSmart are completely free of known allergens, this food is more grain-free than hypoallergenic dog food. It’s still in excellent choice for dogs that don’t have food allergies, though..
Nature’s Recipe
This is another quasi hypoallergenic dog food. Although it does use chicken as the protein source in many of its formulations, it is 100% grain-free. Because grains are one of the worst offenders in dog food allergies, and because Natures’ Recipe received such high marks from consumers, this brand made the cut. PetSmart currently offers several varieties of Nature’s Recipe.
Simply Nourish
I have no personal experience with this brand, nor have I met anyone who has used it. However, it receives 4 and 5 star marks consistently. This food is available at PetSmart in a several hypoallergenic and grain-free formulations.
Wellness
Wellness is another hypoallergenic dog food line that has seen a major increase in popularity. I’ve never given my dogs this food, however many clients at the vet swore by it, and I saw the results first hand. PetSmart only carries two fully hypoallergenic selections, however they do have a large variety of Wellness’ grain-free selections.
Hypoallergenic Dog Food for Days
There you have it. The highest rated hypoallergenic dog food brands from PetSmart. I have no experience with most of these foods, however I have heard clients at the vet speak highly of a few of them, and the rest receive high marks from owners. These hypoallergenic dog foods are the ones that seem to be in the highest demand with the highest ratings.
Again, I received no compensation of any sort from PetSmart. This is purely for your information. With so many people shopping from PetSmart either in-store or online, I felt it might be helpful to give you all a sampling of the best hypoallergenic dog food PetSmart has to offer. Remember, always do your own research and consult with your vet to find the hypoallergenic dog food that’s right for your pet.
