With the holidays approaching in just under three months, it’s time to start thinking about holiday gift ideas for dogs! We can’t forget our furry friends, now can we? They love finding treasures under the tree just as much as we do. Although, sometimes, they tend to leave “treasures” under there that we may not appreciate! Hey, it’s happened! My dog Cooper left me a very unwelcome gift under my Christmas tree when he was a puppy. We’re going to start out our holiday gift ideas for dogs with some of my favorite toys for large breeds. These are toys that I know my three big dogs would love!
Holiday Gift Ideas for Dogs: Toys for Large Breeds
Otis & Claude CritterZ Stuffing Free Dog Toys – Raccoon (23″): Otis and Claude CritterZ™ Stuffing Free Raccoon features the softest faux fur that your dogs will love to gnaw on or snuggle with! No stuffing means no mess when they inevitably tear the racoon apart. With squeakers in both ends, your pooch will go nuts switching it back and forth!
KONG Wild Knots Squeaker Bears Dog Toys: Kong knows how to make tough toys that dogs love, making these one of my favorite holiday gift ideas for dogs. The exterior is soft and cozy, but inside it’s reinforced with braided rope. Of course, it contains a squeaker too!
Jed Ball Hot Dog (Yellow/Brown) – LARGE: So, this is kind of the coolest ball I’ve ever seen for dogs! I wasn’t sure what it was when I first saw it. Basically, that banana looking thing on the end is a handle, so it’s easier to throw! Kind of helps keep at least some of the slobber off your hands!
ThunderToy Calming Chew Toy – Large: This adorable Thunder Toy is designed to hold Thunder Treats, which are supposed to calm your anxious dog. My boy Cooper is terrified during storms. I wonder if this would work for him? I’m going to give it a try!
Chuckit! Paraflight Flyer Dog Toy – Large: If your dog loves to catch a Frisbee as much as my Tasha, then you need to add this to your shopping list! It has padded edges to make it easier to catch for both your dog and you. Plus the large size makes it fly in a unique way. It even floats on water!
The Retros Tug Toy – MOD SQUAD (LARGE) : Play a game of tug with your pug (okay, fine, pugs aren’t large breeds, but I couldn’t resist the rhyme!) with these fun retro toys! They make fun sound effects when you’re playing!
Bottom line when it comes to coming up with holiday gift ideas for dogs: pay attention to their personality. My dog Tasha loves anything she can catch, Cooper love to tug and Maia just wants a cuddly stuffed “baby” that she can love…until she tears it to pieces and yanks out the squeaker. While some toys are built to last, when you have a large breed dog, you know that no toy lasts forever. Just keep that in mind when you shop for your dog gifts. Other than that, have fun!
