Freya is her name and she is known as the loneliest dog in Britain. However, it looks like she won’t be lonely for long…Freya has just got herself a role in the upcoming Transformers movie, Transformers: The Last Knight, due to hit theaters on June 23, 2017. Freya the Loneliest Dog Isn’t Lonely Anymore!
She has been desperately to find a place that she can call home for the past six years. During this time, she has sadly been rejected by thousands of potential owners, even though many people say she is friendly and sweet. In fact, Freya has been passed up over 18,000 times by potential owners. It should be noted that Freya has been diagnosed with epilepsy recently.
Freya is a 6-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog, who spent the majority of her life on the streets and in numerous animal shelters. Staffordshire Bull Dog breeds are known for being raised as bait dogs for bears and bulls prior to the 19th century. However, a lot has changed since then as these dogs are known for being courageous, intelligent and great with kids. While they certainly aren’t the ideal dog breed for all families, they are perfect for a great many families.

Michael Bay, the director of the Transformer movies, spotted Freya on Facebook. He fell in love with her immediately and decided to cast her in the 5th Transformer movie in the film franchise. Bay took to Twitter posting, “Found this in the news last week in the UK. We gave the Loneliest Dog, a role in Transformers. Freya, has epilepsy and has been in a shelter her whole 6-year life. We are also going to find her a home. … If not she will come to my house. Welcome to the cast Freya!” Bay is already the proud owner of 2 Bullmastiff dogs: Grace and Bonecrusher.
She is currently residing at the Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre in the United Kingdom. Debbie Hughes, who is a fundraiser staff, said, “Freya is a beautiful dog with a beautiful personality, and that will shine through to the right person.”
A spokesperson for the animal rescue recently told The Dodo, about Freya turning Hollywood, “Michael Bay’s office contacted us directly and after lengthy communications we’re happy for her to be part of the cast. This came as an added bonus alongside the fact that we have people currently getting to know her with a view to offering a permanent home which has always been our main priority.”
Filming for Transformers: The Last Knight doesn’t start until sometime this summer, so currently it is unclear the role Freya will play in the movie.
