Today, we’re going to go over all of the major features and pros of this orthopedic memory foam bed.

We’ll also take a look at the cons and find out if they outweigh the benefits.

Last, we’ll do a few side-by-side comparisons of the Casper with similar dog beds.

Ready to get started?

What is the Casper Dog Bed?

Casper Dog Bed, Plush Memory Foam, Large, Gray

The Casper memory foam dog bed is mid to high-end (depending on your perspective) orthopedic bed from the Casper Sleep company.

If you’ve never heard of them before, they’re fairly well-known for making top-rated memory foam only beds (as in no springs) that ship right to your doorstep.

Their dog bed tries to replicate everything that customers love about their human mattresses to, in their words, “create a sleep environment that caters to canines’ natural behaviors.”

Let’s take a look at the Casper dog bed on Youtube to get a quick overview, then we’ll talk price.

How much is a Casper Dog Bed?

The Casper bed ranges from just around $120 to a smidge over $200, depending on the size.

Remember how I said it’s a mid to high-end bed depending on your perspective? Well, here’s what I meant.

I’ve seen great dog beds that cost half of the Casper’s price and cruddy beds that cost nearly twice as much, so it’s really a matter of what you consider an acceptable price for the value.

Since the Casper calls itself a bed that’s been perfected for dog behavior, I have certain expectations that I expect it to fulfill.

Dogs dig, chew, and scratch. They run, jump, play, and don’t exactly go easy on their belongings. Dogs can also be messy at times!

With all that in mind, I expect to see words like “chew-resistant” (chew-proof would be even better), water-proof, durable, sturdy, and supportive.

Let’s see if they pop up, shall we? First, though, we’ll take a look at the basic specs.

Casper Dog Bed Specs & Features

The Casper Dog bed comes in three different sizes, so let’s start with the specs for each one.

Casper Dog Bed Small

The small Casper measures 26″ x 19″ x 6″ and is ideal for dogs up to 30lbs.

Medium Casper Dog Bed

The medium measures 33″ x 25″ x 6″ and holds dogs up to 60lbs.

Casper Dog Bed Large

If you need something for slightly bigger breeds, the Casper large measures 45″ x 35″ x 7″ and can handle a dog up to about 90lbs.

Let’s look at the pros and cons at a glance, then we’ll go over some frequently asked questions to round out our Casper dog bed review section.

Pros & Cons of the Casper Dog Bed

Pros

  • Super tough cover is “practically impenetrable” according to the brand.
  • Zippers are tucked away in pockets so they don’t mar your floor.
  • Won’t flatten like a pancake.
  • Thick enough foam for most dogs to sleep comfortably.
  • Can hold up to dogs that like to dig into their bed.
  • Foam bolsters are the perfect size to give an added sense of security without taking up half the bed.
  • Slobber-resistant cover

Cons

  • No XL size, so giant breeds are left out.
  • No XS size. The small can handle a toy breed, but they may not feel secure in it.
  • You sacrifice comfort for durability with the cover, as it’s not very soft.
  • Some complain that the foam isn’t thick enough for dogs with joint issues.
  • Not water-proof
  • No replacement covers (I looked all over for them)
  • Not the best warranty (only a 1-year limited warranty)

Casper Dog Bed FAQs

https://www.instagram.com/p/B4bTvzLJw-v/

What is the Casper Dog Bed Made Of?

Each Casper bed is made with two layers of memory foam, including a visco elastic and a polyurethane support foam.

The cover is constructed out of nylon, polyester and olefin fiber. I had to look up that last one. It’s a synthetic fiber that’s often used in car interiors.

How do you clean a Casper dog bed?

A lot of people ask this question, so I wanted to answer it before we move on. The cover is the only washable part of the bed.

Basically, just take it off and toss it in your washing machine on the gentle cycle in cold water. Then, you can either let it air dry or tumble dry on low.

Is Casper dog bed waterproof & chewproof?

No, as far as I can tell, it’s not.

It’s slobber-proof, which means that drool and very small amounts of liquid won’t penetrate the cover, but it’s not entirely waterproof.

It’s also dig-resistant, but if you have a dog that loves to tear into their beds, it’s just not going to hold up.

To be fair, very few beds are actually chew-proof, though, and the cover is very durable compared to others.

What is the Casper Dog Bed Return Policy?

The Casper dog bed return policy isn’t really all that great, to be honest. I couldn’t find anything about returns on Amazon, so you’re rolling the dice there.

As far as the 1-year limited warranty goes, it only covers manufacturer issues. It doesn’t cover wear and tear, physical “abuse,” or mattresses sold by unauthorized 3rd parties.

It also doesn’t cover “comfort preference,” so if you find that it’s just not supportive enough for your dog, you’re out of luck.

If you have issues that ARE covered, then you can get one free replacement. You do have to meet certain conditions, but they’re fairly logical.

Is there a Casper Dog Bed Cover Replacement?

Sadly, no, it doesn’t appear that you can buy the Casper dog bed cover separately.

I searched all over Amazon as well as their website and found nothing. So if the cover goes, that’s that. Good thing it’s so durable, right?

Okay, so we’ve covered the features, sizes, pros and cons. Now, let’s see how it measures up to other similar beds.

How does the Casper compare to other beds?

We’re going to look at how the Casper stacks up against three other popular beds.

Casper dog bed vs Big Barker

The Big Barker is among one of my favorite dog beds, so it’s going to be hard for the Casper to beat it.

Check out the table for a quick look at the major features side by side, then read on for more details.

The Big Barker is the clear winner when it comes to sizes for larger breeds (all the way up to ginormous dogs).

It’s also slightly higher rated yet lower priced overall compared to the Casper.

Neither of the beds are waterproof or chewproof, so it’s an even wash there.

If you prefer a bed that offers replacement covers, the Big Barker wins again.

As far as the memory foam goes, they’re fairly evenly matched, although I feel like the Big Barker’s is a bit higher quality.

Plus, Big Barker ONLY does dog beds, so their entire company is dedicated solely towards making sure your pup is comfy & happy.

I’d only recommend the Casper vs the Big Barker for those with small dogs, as the BB is calibrated for large breeds.

Purple Dog Bed vs Casper

Purple makes human beds similar to Casper’s so it makes sense that their dog beds would be evenly matched. Take a look:

While Casper’s beds are only “designed in the US,” Purple’s are wholly made in the USA.

Another interesting difference, the Purple bed touts their hypoallergenic and non-toxic status proudly & boldly on their website. I found no such mentions for the Casper bed.

I wasn’t able to find replacement covers for the Purple, so they’re even on that count.

The Purple Dog Bed is pricier than the Casper by about $60, so unless you need something hypoallergenic or prefer to buy only USA-made items, I’d go with the Casper here.

Casper Dog Bed vs Orvis

Orvis makes a couple of different dog beds, but for the sake of this comparison we’ll go with their Deep Dish bed as it’s the most similar.

03/18/2025 08:03 am GMT

The Orvis is priced about the same as the Purple bed, making it a good $60 more than the Casper.

The memory foam on the Orvis is only 3.5″ thick, so it’s far from supportive for dogs with joint issues.

While the Casper isn’t much thicker, their entire brand revolves around memory foam, which gives me a bit more confidence.

That said, the Orvis uses CertiPUR-US-certified foam (meaning it’s totally non-toxic). If the Casper does, they don’t mention it.

Although the bed does come in sizes ranging from S-XL, half of them are out of stock on Amazon.

As far as replacement covers go, it’s a bit confusing. The Orvis website does have some replacement covers, but they don’t look like they’d fit the Deep Dish bed, so we’ll go with “no.”

Neither bed is chew-proof or water-proof, although the Casper cover is a bit more durable. In this case, the Casper wins, in my opinion.

Final Recommendation: Is the Casper Dog Bed Worth It?

Long story short, is the Casper dog bed worth it? Well, it depends.

If you’re looking for a comfy bed for an adult dog that doesn’t need a ton of orthopedic support, yes, I think it’s worth it.

The Casper can handle normal wear and tear, digging, scratching, and even heavy drooling.

However, if you have an aggressive chewer, bed wetter, severely arthritic dog or giant breed, then there are better options.

I hope my Casper dog bed review answered all of your questions, but if not, feel free to ask any others below. I’d also love to hear your thoughts on whether or not it’s worth it.
