Hi there! I’m Nicole, the editor-in-chief and one of the writers here at DogVills. I’ve been a dog owner for most of my adult life and a dog lover for much longer than that. I grew up with a wonderful German Shepherd named Jake, who I loved SO much that I named my son after him. When I’m not writing for DogVills or my own site, Pretty Opinionated, I love spending time with my teenager (when he actually lets me) and my Pharaoh Hound, Freya. I’m also an avid reader AND a total TV fanatic.

If you’ve been feeding your dog ButcherBox For Pets, don’t be surprised if your next order arrives with a different name on the package.

This week, ButcherBox For Pets officially announced its rebrand to DASH Dog Food. While the name is changing, the company says pet parents can expect the same recipes, sourcing standards, and nutritional philosophy that helped it build a loyal following among dog owners looking for less-processed food options.

DASH Dog Food (formerly ButcherBox for Pets)

A sous-vide style fresh dog food where antibiotic-free, certified humane meat makes up over 50% of the recipe. Fortified with whole food ingredients for premium nutrition and enhanced with pre- and post-biotics to ensure healthy digestion.

According to the company, DASH Dog Food will continue to use antibiotic-free, humanely raised meats, including grass-fed beef and organic chicken sourced from farms that prioritize animal welfare. The food is also still slow-cooked at a relatively low temperature of 165°F, a process designed to help preserve nutrients that can be lost during high-heat manufacturing methods commonly used in traditional kibble production.

The company says all recipes remain AAFCO-compliant and are developed with veterinary input to provide complete and balanced nutrition for dogs at every life stage.

The rebrand appears to be part of a broader effort to create a standalone identity focused entirely on pet nutrition. In its announcement, DASH emphasized that while the name is new, the standards customers have come to expect haven’t changed “by a single ingredient.”

For existing customers, that’s likely the biggest takeaway. There are no recipe overhauls, ingredient swaps, or sourcing changes being announced alongside the new branding.

The company is also leaning into a simple message that many fresh and gently cooked food brands have adopted in recent years: dogs deserve better than heavily processed pet food. DASH positions itself as a real-food alternative built around high-quality animal proteins and minimal processing.

For dog owners who have already made the switch from traditional kibble to slow-cooked meals, the transition should be seamless. The bag may look different, but the food inside remains the same.

So if you’re wondering whether your dog’s favorite ButcherBox For Pets recipe has disappeared, the answer is no. It just has a new name: DASH Dog Food.
