America’s First Dog Cafe Opens in Los Angeles
Don’t have a dog of your own to snuggle and love? Head to America’s first dog cafe in Los Angeles, where for just $10 you can get all the puppy love you need! The cafe serves up coffee and love, while offering you the chance to meet your new furever friend. All of the dogs at the center are up for adoption.
This is a great opportunity to really get to know a dog before you adopt. If you do decide to enjoy a cup of joe, 20% of the proceeds go towards helping animals. I hope this becomes a trend like cat cafes! Even though I have two dogs of my own, I love the chance to play with other pups.
Dog helps 72-year-old woman survive the Arizona wilderness
Could you survive nine days in the Arizona wilderness? If you had a trusty canine pal like Queenie, you’d definitely have a fighting chance! 72-year-old Tucson resident Ann Rodgers got lost in the wilderness after making a “waaay wrong turn” during a drive to her grandson’s birthday. She was running low on gas and trying to find a station for a fill-up, but the tank went empty before she made it. She and Queenie spent the first night in the car, then set out on foot to find a spot where she had a cell signal.

Queenie helped find safe paths and bridges for Ann. In an interview with the Washington Post, Ann says “She was the one who would range ahead of me to find the game trail, or cowpath or place to cross a river safely.” Thanks to Queenie’s help and a childhood spent hiking and fishing, Ann survived with no major health issues.
Your dog can now post to social media without your help
Say what, now? This just in (literally just showed up in my news feed as I’m writing this): dogs don’t need your help to manage their own social media accounts anymore! Thanks to a new device from Pedigree, called The Posting Tail, all it takes is a wag of a tail to snap a photo and upload it to Facebook. So far it seems to be available only from the Pedigree.es site, and all the videos I found of it are in Spanish. More on this as I find other sources, but check out the full story here.
Seattle serves up canine food street style with their food truck for dogs!
There’s a food truck for just about everything these days, so it’s no surprise that someone thought to make one just for dogs! The Seattle Barkery parks near Amazon.com’s Seattle headquarters and sees quite a steady lunch rush every day! According to the Denver Post article, the truck serves up things like chicken feet and duck neck along with tasty treats like pumpkin pretzels and peanut butter banana cookies.

They do serve humans too, so you can enjoy a tasty treat with your dog! While they’re currently the most popular food truck for dogs in the news, they’re not the only one. Denver has its very own Smart Cookie truck. I’ve actually tried their treats before (the sell them online too) and my dogs went nuts for them.
Snickle Fritz the Dog Find His Forever Home
Who is Snickle Fritz? Just a sweet little pup from Afghanistan who found his forever home with a veteran in Australia. The darling Afghan Kuchi was found by US Marines as a tiny puppy on top of a trash heap in Afghanistan. Special Forces soldier Eric Yarger was among them. He fell in love with Snickle and brought her all the way back to the US (with the help of Puppy Rescue Mission), then down to Australia. Yarger didn’t just help Snickle, she also helped the veteran heal. Check out the full story on Mashable.
Marine Vet Reunited with his Battle Buddy- and it’s a tearjerker!
I bawl my eyes out whenever I watch a video of a veteran reunited with his dog. Seriously, there are entire YouTube compilations just of this tear-jerking moment! So of course, this video brought many tears to my eyes. Chris Galliher, a Marine Vet, got Raider to help him through some dark times. While on a trip, Raider escaped from the car and Chris thought he’d lost his best canine buddy forever.
