If you are looking for hypoallergenic Pomeranian puppies, sorry to tell you, but you’re a bit out of luck. They are not considered to be a hypoallergenic dog breed. Pomeranians have other great qualities but do not score high on the ratings for being considered hypoallergenic. These compact and high energy dogs can be a handful but are overall a typically healthy breed that loves to please their owners. They are intelligent and eager to learn. Their compact size makes them great for living in the city where they may not have a large yard to run. As with all dogs they have certain needs; here are a few things you should know about the Pomeranian Puppies.

Pomeranian Puppies: Are they hypoallergenic?

Coat and Grooming

To properly take care of Pomeranian puppies and older Pomeranian dogs you will need to pay close attention to their coats. They have a long outer coat that does require some grooming. Their coat is considered a dual layer coat. It consists of a dense inner layer and a more wild and sporadic looking outer layer which grows much longer. It requires some consistent grooming. This grooming will also help keep dander levels lower but because of the length of their coat they shed quite a bit and this makes them typically non-hypoallergenic.

Intelligence and Exercise

Pomeranian puppies are a very intelligent breed that are high energy and eager to please. They require a moderate amount of exercise for a small breed and are great pets! They can be trained with plenty of praise and consistency. They want to make you happy so always show them how good they are doing when training! The nice thing about these small pups is that their exercise needs can be met with a relatively small area. They do not require numerous long walks or large areas to run. Their small size makes them ideal pets for city living or for people with small outdoor areas.

Demeanor and Temperament

Pomeranian Puppies can be a great addition to any family. Their temperament and demeanor can of course vary, depending on training, personality, etc. But overall Pomeranians are a great family breed that is known to be protective of its owners. They can be aggressive towards other dogs but are rarely known to be aggressive towards their families. Pomeranian puppies will need a strong leader to show them what is expected of them, this helps to avoid behavioral problems that can arise when this small breed tries to assert its dominance over the other humans and pets in their home.

Adoption of  Pomeranian Puppies

Overall the Pomeranian is a great breed that you should definitely consider when searching for a great dog to add to your family. Unfortunately, they are not always considered to be hypoallergenic and should be considered only if you or your loved ones have tested and been able to successfully tolerate their higher levels of dander.  Another thing that is always important to remember is that there are MANY pets in shelters near you that need a home. If you are looking to add a Pomeranian to your family first check your local shelters and adoption centers before going to a breeder or pet shop. You could easily be saving one of these pets’ lives and also gaining a great family member in the process.
