This air-dried dog food brand promises human-grade, all-natural ingredients without any artificial preservatives or unnecessary fillers. In this review, we’ll take an in-depth look at their food (I tested the Chicken recipe), its ingredients, how it’s made, its benefits, potential drawbacks, and whether it’s worth making the switch for your pup.

How Sundays for Dogs is Made
Sundays for Dogs takes a unique approach to dog food preparation by air-drying their ingredients. Unlike traditional kibble, which is cooked at high temperatures that can destroy nutrients, air-drying gently removes moisture while preserving the natural nutrients and flavors.
This process helps maintain the integrity of the ingredients while also making the food shelf-stable and easy to store. The result? A healthier, fresher, and more nutrient-dense meal that’s still convenient for busy pet parents and that dogs will absolutely love.

Ingredients Breakdown
One of the standout aspects of Sundays for Dogs is its commitment to high-quality, whole-food ingredients. The Chicken Recipe features:
- Chicken (human-grade, USDA-certified)
- Organ meats (chicken liver, heart, and gizzard for added nutrition and taste)
- Fruits and vegetables (pumpkin, carrots, blueberries, apples, kale, and more for vitamins and antioxidants)
- High-quality grains (millet and quinoa for energy and digestion support)
- Functional superfoods (turmeric, ginger, flaxseed, and tart cherries for anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits)
With a strong focus on real, whole-food ingredients, Sundays for Dogs ensures that every bite contributes to your dog’s overall well-being.

Pros and Benefits
- Human-grade, all-natural ingredients
- No artificial additives, fillers, or synthetic preservatives
- Air-dried for better nutrient retention
- Highly digestible and gentle on sensitive stomachs
- Convenient and easy to serve
- Great taste—dogs love it!
Human-Grade Ingredients With No Artificial Additives, Fillers, or Preservatives
First, Sundays for Dogs uses only human-grade ingredients. This means higher quality and better nutritional benefits for your pup.
Many dog foods include artificial preservatives and fillers that can be hard on digestion. Plus, they’re just junk ingredients in general. Especially fillers which are just that- extra stuff to pad the recipe and bulk up the food. Sundays for Dogs eliminates these unnecessary extras, focusing solely on what truly benefits your dog.
Air-Dried for Better Nutrient Retention
Since the food isn’t exposed to extreme heat, essential nutrients remain intact. This ensures that your dog gets more benefits from whole-food ingredients rather than synthetic supplements.

Highly Digestible and Gentle on Sensitive Stomachs
With real meat, organ meats, and fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, this formula is much easier for dogs to digest compared to heavily processed kibble. Freya tends to have a sensitive tummy. You wouldn’t know it given the stuff she tries to eat, but her eyes really are bigger than her stomach. She had zero issues with Sundays for Dogs.

Convenient and Easy to Serve
No refrigeration, rehydration, or cooking required—just scoop and serve. It’s as easy as kibble but with the quality of a fresh or raw diet. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that once you open the bag you do need to use it up within 8 weeks. That’s more than enough time, especially if you have a big dog.
Great Taste—Dogs Love It So Much They Think It’s a Treat!
The combination of organ meats and natural flavors makes this food super tasty for dogs. You can see below that Freya gobbled it down!

I also started doing something new when I review dog food. I call it the “can I fool Freya into thinking it’s a treat?” test. Honestly, this NEVER works with regular kibble. She knows that it’s dog food and looks at me like I’ve lost my mind when I try to give it to her as a treat.
Sundays for Dogs, however, definitely passes the test. In fact, Freya is actually excited when I use it in her training games and her snuffle mat. I love any food that she’ll accept as a reward since it means that she’s eating something healthier than regular old dog treats. She likes it so much that she did this when I turned my head for two seconds while taking pictures:

When I turned back and told her to get her head out of the bag, she actually picked it up and tried to run off with it! Thankfully, I was quick enough to snag it back from her, or she would have tried to eat the whole thing. So, it not only passes the “doubles as a treat” test, but also the “Freya tries to steal it” test. 😀
Cons & Considerations
There really isn’t much to say in terms of cons or drawbacks. This is really stellar food. Even Dog Food Advisor gave it a rare 5 stars. I like to be balanced, though, so here are a few things to consider:
- More expensive than traditional kibble
- Limited recipe options compared to some competitors
1. More Expensive Than Traditional Kibble
Because of its high-quality ingredients and careful preparation process, Sundays for Dogs comes with a higher price tag. However, the health benefits make it worth the extra cost.
How much you’ll pay depends entirely on your dog’s breed, size, and needs. They do have a discounted 2-week trial, though. For an active senior Pharaoh Hound like Freya, it would run around $64.29 for a two-week trial (at 40% off the regular price). Smaller dogs would obviously cost less. You’ll take a quiz when you signup, which will show you the recommend recipe and price.

2. Limited Recipe Options Compared to Some Competitors
The only other potential issue is the fact that right now there are just three recipe options: Chicken, Turkey, and Beef. Those are the most common recipes for dog foods in general, though. It’s not really an issue if your dog unless your dog is allergic to all three and needs a totally novel protein source.
Conclusion
Sundays for Dogs Chicken Recipe is a fantastic choice for pet parents who want to provide their dogs with a healthier, nutrient-dense diet without the hassle of raw feeding. The air-dried formula preserves natural nutrients, making it a superior option to traditional kibble while maintaining convenience. Though it comes at a higher cost, the benefits of whole-food ingredients, easy digestibility, and superior taste make it a worthwhile investment in your dog’s health.
If you’re ready to upgrade your pup’s mealtime with a high-quality, minimally processed option, Sundays for Dogs is definitely worth considering!
