Here’s the only thing you need to know about Pitbull puppy training tips specific to the Blue Nose Pit.
There are none.
Blue Nose Pits are just Pitbulls with a certain coloring.
They are still Pits.
Blue Nose Pits are Just Pits
That’s the the key thing to remember. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met who think a Blue Nose Pit is less aggressive than a Red Nose Pit. People often talk about them like they’re two separate breeds, but the biggest difference between them is there coloring and their price.
I’m of the opinion that the myth of big differences between Blue Nose and Red Nose Pits is one that’s been perpetuated by breeders in order to charge more for their puppies.
Everything I’ve outlined in my Pitbull puppy training tips series goes for all Pits, no matter their coloring. A Pitbull is a pitbull. That being said there are a few things to remember when training your Pitbull puppy, be it Blue or Red Nose.
They’re Stubborn
One of the golden rules of Pitbull puppy training tips is this. Pits are stubborn, no matter what their coloring. They need training to ensure that stubbornness doesn’t become a problem.
They’re Smart
Pitbulls are smart. Super smart. It’s easy to train any Pit – Blue Nose, Red Nose, or Brindle – as long as you stay consistent so they know what you want them to do and when. Pro Tip: Pitbulls are so smart and eager to please, you just need a double fist-full of treats and a squeaky, excited voice to get the job done.
They Love People
Another important thing to remember when it comes to Pitbull puppy training tips is that they love people. Why is that something to remember as a training tip? It’s important because your Pit needs to know it can’t just charge people with joy.
When I worked at the vet, we took in a Pit who’s intake papers from the pound said she was “aggressive.” She’d been shot AND maced. She wasn’t aggressive at all. She loved everyone and everything. As near as we can figure, she ran towards a policeman who mistook her exuberance for aggression. That’s exactly why it’s so important to remember to train your Pit out of charging.
The CAN Love Animals
This is the last entry into this installment of Pitbull puppy training tips. Whether it’s a Blue Nose, Red Nose, or Brindle Pit, all of them CAN love animals. Notice the emphasis on can. While you’ll have exceptions to the rule, in general a Pit that isn’t socialized with animals can be quite animal aggressive if it feels threatened. However when introduced to animals as a puppy, Pits can be very friendly and loving with all creatures great and small.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The biggest of all Pitbull puppy training tips is that they’re just puppies. They’re just a dog, and you don’t have to approach them with any sort of particular approach to address all of the mythical attributes they possess. Just remember that, and you’ll always be good to go.
