Large hypoallergenic dog breeds, do they exist? Yes they do! Not all hypoallergenic dogs come in compact sizes. Just because you have allergies and prefer a larger sized dog does not mean you have to miss out on mans best friend. Here is a list of some of the larger dog breeds that happen to be hypoallergenic!

Large Breed Hypoallergenic Dogs
Afghan Hound: This interesting looking hypoallergenic dog looks like he has hair that some women might be jealous of! So long and straight and as long as you keep him properly groomed, shiny and smooth too! He does require daily grooming, but you can make it part of some quiet bonding time, he will love it. Unlike the other breeds on this list, the Afghan does not make for a good watchdog. He will do ok in an apartment, he just needs to be able to move around. The Afghan prefers a relaxed lifestyle (as you might assume from his regal appearance!)
Bouvier des Flanders: Think ‘big black bear’, it’s what he looks like! This is partially due to his thick double coat that keeps him warm in the worst of weather. Unlike a big black bear, he is very gentle, despite his size. He was bred to work on farms, herding cattle, pulling cart and just helping out the farmer in general (although I don’t think he was milking the cattle or gathering eggs). These days he is a great guard dog for your family. His size may make people think twice about entering your house without being invited first!

Giant Schnauzer: He hails from Germany (was it obvious?) You might want to think twice about bringing him into your family if you already have cats or other dogs. His breed is known to not get along well, but if you have your heart set on him, I would suggest getting him as a puppy and socializing him well, just keep in mind his dislike for cats and dogs. As far as any diseases you may need to worry about, fear not, he is a pretty healthy and sturdy pooch! He has endurance too, so walk him, run him, take him hiking, he was a working dog so he loves to do those things!
Wirehaired Pointing Griffon: While this dog might be more of a medium sized dog, let’s not leave him out. He originates from France, Germany and the Netherlands as a sporting dog. All he wants to do is please you, and he feels so proud when he does (sort of like your toddler that goes on the potty for the first time). Because of his love for pleasing his family, he is simple to train. He loves his family and in turn is a great watchdog! If you have kids, or other animals (not that your kids are animals!) he will do just fine blending in, as long as your other animals are ok with him.
