Now, we all know that the purpose of going to a hockey game is to see two hockey teams compete against one another, right? Well, on Saturday night, March 25, 2017, a beautiful Golden Retriever seemed to be the star of the show. Before the game against the Washington Capitals and the Arizona Coyotes at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., a D.C. police officer and a Golden Retriever were playing fetch on the ice rink, with a hockey puck.

In the minute-long video, the dog didn’t do so well the first time around, as he seemed to have troubles stopping on the ice. However, the subsequent times, the Golden Retriever looked flawless on the ice, fetching the puck and bringing it back to the officer. The Washington Capitals posted a video of the dog chasing the puck on their Twitter page. The video was posted on March 26, 2017 at 3:56 PM and since that time, has been Retweeted 22,366 times and Liked 43,476 times.

It seems that the Washington Capitals and dogs seem to be a trend recently. On March 25, 2017, which was National Puppy Day, Capitals Captain Alex Ovechkin and his Black Lab, Blake, played fetch.

The Capitals won over the Coyotes with a score of 4-1. The Washington Capitals set two records in Saturday night’s game. First, the team currently has a season record of 31 wins, 6 regular losses and 2 overtime losses, which is a franchise record for most home games won. Also, Washington Capitals Captain, Alex Ovechkin scored his 30th goal of the current season. This makes him the 3rd player in NHL history to score 30 goals in the 1st 12 seasons of their career. Mike Gartner, who played with the Washington Capitals from 1978 to 1998, did it in his 1st 15 seasons. And Wayne Gretzky, who played from 1979 to 1999 with the Edmonton Oilers, the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers, did it in his 1st 13 seasons.
