Finding a hotel that allows dogs is a lot easier than it used to be. Finding one that allows dogs and fits your budget without making you sacrifice all the little conveniences you actually want on vacation? That can still take some digging.

If you’re considering a stay at Spark by Hilton, there’s good news: Spark by Hilton has pet-friendly locations across the United States and beyond. Hilton even has a dedicated directory for finding pet-friendly Spark hotels.

There is one fairly important catch, though. Pet policies aren’t identical at every Spark property.

So, before you pack the dog bed, food bowls, favorite squeaky toy and approximately 47 other things your dog apparently requires for a two-night trip, here’s what you should know.

Spark by Hilton

Spark by Hilton is a great budget-friendly option with pet-friendly locations, free WiFi, complimentary breakfast at North American hotels and comfortable rooms with the essentials you need for your stay. Pet fees and policies vary by location.

Is Spark by Hilton Pet-Friendly?

Yes, many Spark by Hilton hotels are pet-friendly. Hilton currently lists hundreds of pet-friendly Spark properties in North America, including locations throughout the United States.

However, you should always check the pet policy for the specific Spark hotel you’re considering before booking.

That’s because individual locations can set different rules regarding:

  • Pet fees
  • Weight limits
  • Number of pets allowed
  • Types of pets permitted
  • Length-of-stay fees
  • Rules for pets in common areas

For example, Spark by Hilton Alpharetta Roswell currently allows up to two dogs or cats with a maximum weight of 75 pounds. Its listed non-refundable pet fee is $75 for stays of one to four nights and $125 for longer stays.

Meanwhile, Spark by Hilton Clarks Summit lists a 50-pound maximum weight and a $50 non-refundable pet fee.

That’s a pretty good illustration of why you don’t want to assume that the policy you saw for one Spark hotel applies to another.

How to Check a Spark Hotel’s Pet Policy

Fortunately, Hilton makes this fairly easy.

Start with the Spark by Hilton website and search for hotels at your destination. You can also use Hilton’s pet-friendly filter when searching for properties.

Once you’ve chosen a specific hotel, scroll down to its Hotel Policies section and look for “Pets.” That’s where you’ll usually find the current fee, weight limit and any other restrictions.

I would still recommend confirming the policy shortly before your trip, especially if you’re traveling with a larger dog. Hotel policies can change, and discovering that your 70-pound Lab is over a particular property’s limit when you’re standing in the lobby isn’t exactly the relaxing start to vacation you had in mind.

What Is Spark by Hilton?

Spark is Hilton’s budget-friendly hotel brand, with an emphasis on giving travelers the basics they actually need without adding a bunch of extras that drive up the nightly rate.

Think clean and comfortable rather than fancy.

Rooms include the everyday essentials, and Hilton describes the brand as offering consistent, affordable stays with helpful service. Spark properties also include free WiFi and an on-site market where you can pick up snacks and other last-minute necessities.

For people traveling with dogs, that simpler approach can make a lot of sense. Personally, if I’m spending most of my trip exploring with my dog anyway, I’m less concerned about whether my hotel has a fancy lobby bar and more interested in whether I have a comfortable room to come back to at night.

And preferably somewhere nearby to take the dog out at 6 AM, because dogs remain blissfully unaware of the concept of vacation sleep.

What Do You Get When You Stay at Spark by Hilton?

While amenities can vary somewhat between properties, there are a few features that make Spark particularly appealing for road trips and other relatively budget-conscious travel.

Free Breakfast at North American Locations

Breakfast is complimentary at Spark hotels in North America. Hilton’s current breakfast includes options such as bagels and spreads, cereal, yogurt, fruit and coffee.

It’s a relatively simple breakfast, but “free and I don’t have to find a restaurant before I’ve had coffee” has quite a bit going for it.

It’s also one less expense to factor into your trip.

Free WiFi

Free WiFi is another standard Spark amenity.

That’s useful for anyone who needs to get a little work done while traveling, but it’s also handy for looking up dog-friendly restaurants, parks, trails and attractions once you arrive.

Or watching Netflix in your hotel room because you walked 11 miles sightseeing that day and everyone, including the dog, has decided they’re done being tourists.

Comfortable, Straightforward Rooms

Spark isn’t trying to be a luxury resort. The focus is on refreshed, comfortable rooms with the essentials you need for your stay.

I actually think there’s something to be said for that when traveling with pets. Most of us aren’t bringing our dogs along because we plan to spend the entire vacation admiring the hotel room.

You want somewhere clean and comfortable where everyone can relax and recharge before heading out again.

An On-Site Market

Spark hotels also have an on-site market for snacks and last-minute purchases.

Will it replace the bag of dog supplies you carefully packed at home? No.

Can it save you when you realize you forgot to buy bottled water or desperately need a snack after getting back to the hotel? Absolutely.

Other Amenities Vary by Location

This is another area where checking the individual hotel pays off.

Some Spark properties have pools, fitness centers, free parking, airport shuttles and other amenities. Others keep things much simpler.

If something matters to you, whether that’s an indoor pool for the kids or free parking because you’re taking a road trip, check the hotel’s amenities before booking rather than assuming it’s included across the entire brand.

Why Spark Can Be a Good Choice for Traveling With Dogs

There’s no single “best” hotel for every dog or every trip. A hotel that’s perfect for someone traveling with a 15-pound Chihuahua might not work at all for someone bringing two 70-pound Golden Retrievers.

Still, Spark checks several boxes that I look for when comparing pet-friendly hotels.

There are plenty of locations. Hilton currently lists hundreds of pet-friendly Spark hotels in North America, which makes the brand worth checking when you’re planning a road trip or visiting multiple destinations.

It’s designed to be budget-friendly. Traveling with a dog already comes with extra expenses, especially once you add pet fees to the equation. A reasonably priced room leaves a little more room in the travel budget for the fun stuff.

You get useful basics. Free WiFi and complimentary breakfast at North American properties aren’t glamorous perks, but they’re the kind you actually use.

You can check the pet policy before booking. I particularly like that Hilton displays the individual property’s pet information online. You can see whether pets are allowed and, in many cases, the fee and weight restriction without having to call every hotel you’re considering.

That last one shouldn’t feel revolutionary in 2026, yet here we are.

A Few Things to Do Before Staying at Spark With Your Dog

Even after you’ve found a pet-friendly Spark location, I’d take a few extra minutes to prepare before your trip.

First, double-check the hotel’s current pet policy. Make sure your dog meets the weight restrictions and confirm how many pets you’re allowed to bring.

It’s also worth finding out whether there are designated pet-relief areas and where they’re located. If possible, take a quick look at the area surrounding the hotel on a map, too. A hotel next to a park or quiet neighborhood can be much easier with a dog than one surrounded entirely by busy roads and parking lots.

Then pack the things that will make the hotel room feel a little more familiar to your dog. Depending on your pup, that might include:

  • Their regular food and treats
  • Food and water bowls
  • Leash, harness and waste bags
  • Medications
  • A familiar blanket or dog bed
  • A favorite toy or chew
  • Towels for muddy paws
  • Cleaning supplies for unexpected messes
  • Veterinary and vaccination information

I also like bringing something familiar from home for the sleeping area. Hotels smell weird to dogs. Having their own blanket or bed gives them one little spot that smells like “home” instead of hundreds of strangers who have slept there before them.

Don’t Forget Basic Hotel Etiquette

A hotel being pet-friendly doesn’t mean every person staying there wants to interact with your dog.

Keep your pup leashed in hallways and other common areas, give other guests some space and clean up after your dog outside.

It’s also a good idea to minimize barking as much as reasonably possible. Obviously, dogs occasionally bark. That’s part of the whole dog package. But if your pup becomes extremely anxious when left alone in unfamiliar places, don’t leave them in the room for hours while you head out sightseeing.

You’ll have a less stressed dog, and the people staying on the other side of the wall will appreciate it.

So, Is Spark by Hilton a Good Choice for Dog-Friendly Travel?

If you’re looking for a comfortable hotel without paying for a bunch of amenities you don’t need, pet-friendly Spark by Hilton locations are definitely worth considering.

You get the reliability of a major hotel brand along with practical perks such as free WiFi and, at North American locations, complimentary breakfast. More importantly for those of us traveling with dogs, Hilton makes it relatively easy to find Spark properties that welcome pets.

Just remember that “Spark by Hilton is pet-friendly” doesn’t mean every location has exactly the same rules.

Check the specific hotel’s pet fee, weight restriction and other requirements before you book. Once that’s out of the way, you can move on to the much harder part of traveling with a dog: convincing them that no, they really don’t need to bring every toy they own.
